DLT Registration Process for Content Templates

For Jio TrueConnect DLT

1. Navigate to Template > Content Template Registration.
2. Select template type: Promotional, Transactional, Service Implicit, or Service Explicit.
3. Choose SMS as the communication type.
4. Select the appropriate category and consent ID (optional).
5. Link the headers you want to use with this template.
6. Enter the message template content and submit it.

For VILPOWER DLT

1. Navigate to Template > Content Template > Add.
2. Choose the template type: Promotional, Service Implicit, Service Explicit, or Transactional.
3. Select category and consent template (if applicable).
4. Link all relevant headers.
5. Provide a template name and select the message type (Text/Unicode).
6. Enter the message template content and save.

Consent Template Registration

1. Navigate to Template > Consent Templates > Add.
2. Enter a template name and brand name.
3. Define the scope of consent and submit.

Important Notes:

1. Mandatory Variable Pre‑Tagging in SMS Templates

DLT platforms now require all dynamic variables in SMS templates to be pre‑tagged with the correct variable type. This helps telecom operators identify the nature of data used in SMS messages.

Example (Old Template Format):

Example (New Template Format):

Your OTP is {#numeric#}

Common Variable Tags

{#numeric#} – OTPs, amounts, numbers

{#alphanumeric#} – Reference IDs, ticket numbers

{#url#} – Website links

{#urlott#} – OTT / App download links

{#cbn#} – Callback numbers

{#email#} – Email addresses

If templates are not updated with proper variable tags, messages may be rejected by operators.

2. Service Explicit Category Merged into Promotional

From 10th March, 2026:

All SE Templates shall be migrated to the Promotional category.

Messages previously approved under Service Explicit will now follow Promotional message rules.

Entities can register Promotional Content Templates using either Alphanumeric or Numeric headers/senders.

Promotional SMS Rules

•       Delivery allowed only between 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
•       DND filtering will apply
•       Messages must follow approved promotional template format

3. What Businesses Should Do Now

•       Review all registered SMS templates on the DLT platform
•       Update variables using the new mandatory tagging format
•       Verify template categories after Service Explicit migration
•       Test messages before running campaigns

Failure to comply may result in message rejection or delivery failure.

• OTPs, alerts, service updates, etc., fall under Service Implicit/Service Inferred.
• All templates must include the brand name in the content part.
